Field Terrace, Irvington NY

A Brooklyn family of four relocated to a historic house built in the 19th century, seeking to translate their eclectic aesthetic into a much larger footprint. After initially attempting a DIY approach, they engaged me to provide the professional guidance needed for a project of this scale.

What started as a single-room office consultation has evolved into a long-term partnership. We are currently executing a room-by-room transformation that respects the home’s history while reflecting the family’s busy lifestyle. Stay tuned to watch this home evolve.

Living room with light blue sofa, rust-colored pillow, floor lamp, large potted tree, abstract artwork, patterned rug, and beige textured wallpaper.

This home office room works overtime: it’s part den, part guest room, part office, so the goal was to create a sophisticated retreat that looks good on a zoom call, is cozy for hanging, and can easily transform into another bedroom (pullout sofa for the win!). We achieved this goal by keeping a tight, mostly neutral color palette and making sure all pieces married form and function.

A study or office corner with a wooden sideboard, decorative books, a white vase with flowers, a white office chair, a window with shutters, a brass wall-mounted lamp, and a patterned carpet.
A black bookshelf with decorative items including a bust sculpture on a white base, framed artwork of a line drawing of a man, a ceramic vase, and books.

When planning the patio design, we knew we wanted to complement the stunning backdrop full of lush, mature trees—while injecting a bit of personality. The outdoor rug pulls the same shade of green as the trees, letting the yellow striped seating have a moment in the sun. Now this is the perfect spot to enjoy an iced tea and some bbq.
